BN 1977
BN 1977 is the ex-SP&S 152, built by EMD in June of 1956. It was equipped with a steam generator for use in passenger train service. The SP&S GP9's were all set up to run long hood forward just as Great Northern's GP9's were. There are a few photos of the SP&S 152 in the as delivered black scheme on rrpicturearchives such as this one at Vancouver, WA in 1964:
Later it was painted into SP&S dark green and yellow scheme. Another photo from rrpicturearchives:at Hillyard, WA in June 1970 right after the BN merger.
Sometime after the March 1970 BN merger the SP&S 152 was renumbered to BN 1977 and remained assigned to the former SP&S shops at Vancouver, WA. The GP9 eventually got BN green paint.
I have just one photo of the 1977 taken on 5-15-79 at Interbay, WA, trailing unit on southbound BN train 139 with units 820/684/1872/ 4010/2528/1977 (F9A/F7A/GP9/C415/GP35/GP9)
As this is the GP9's short hood, it is the rear of the unit. The other end would have the stripes on it. By 1985 the BN 1977 had been reassigned to the eastern end of the BN system working the ex-CB&Q in llinois.then to Minnesota.
At the time of the 1995 BNSF merger the 1977 was still on the roster and assigned number BNSF 1634. It was not on the BNSF roster long as it was retired by 2000. No further disposition available.
