BN 1750

BN 1748 was built 2/57 as NP 310 and assigned to the Rocky Mountain Division at Livingston, MT.

BN 1750 was built as Northern Pacific GP9 312 is February 1957 and was equipped with dynamic brakes. The 1750 HP GP9 was assigned to the Idaho Division and mainly worked locals out of the Spokane and Pasco areas.

After the March 1970 BN merger the NP 312 was renumbered to BN 1750 and assigned to Pasco, WA. This photo from rrpicturearchives shows the 1750 still in NP paint at Connell, WA 4-11-71.

The photo also shows this GP9 was never repainted into the NP's simplified paint scheme.

I first saw the BN 1750 on 4-8-72 at Auburn, WA and my notes show it was already painted BN green at that time. One thing about the 1750 I always liked was the number reflected the EMD's horsepower!

My only roster shot of the 1750 was taken 3-20-78 at Auburn, WA in a power set of 1750/1783/843/840 (GP9/GP9/F9B/F9A) Notice the unpainted steam era bell.

On 7-13-79 I photographed the eastbound Snoqualmie Turn with ex-NP GP9's 1750/1881 between Renton and Maple Valley, WA. It appears that the 1750 had been repainted green a second time and here the bell is painted black.

I could not figure out why there was only this one slide from the chase but looking at my log book from the day this was actually the third slide I had taken of the X1750 East, first was at Renton and second east of Renton at the Fairwood turnoff but those two had issues and were damaged beyond repair. Too bad!

But that was my last shot of the 1750. The 1750 was retired in March 1983 and scrapped.
