BN 806

BN F9A 806 was built as the NP 7001D in January of 1954.

Here is a photo from rrpicturearchives of the NP 7001D at Fargo, ND from July 1969:

My notes say that I first caught the NP 7001D at Easton, WA on 11-1-69 as trailing unit of a westbound freight led by NP 3307/3301/3300/7001D (U33C/U33C/U33C/F9A)

Four months later came the BN merger and the 7001D was renumbered BN 806 and assigned to the ex-GN facility at Interbay, WA.

I noted three times seeing the 806 in 1970.

1) 8-10-70 XEAST 6442/6439/5703/806/5716 (SD45/SD45/U33C/F9A/U33C) Lv Auburn
2) 8-31-70 XNORTH 806/851/735/1806/4256 (F9A/F9B/F7B/GP9/C425) By Auburn, WA
3) 12-13-70 XEAST 6619/2505/806/807/734/2501/1874 (F45/GP35/F9A/F9B/F7A/GP35/GP9)
Lv Auburn for Stampede Pass

This photo from rrpicturearchives shows the 806 in 1971 still in NP paint:

It appears that late in 1971 the 806 was painted BN green.

My first photo of the 806 was taken on 9-26-77 as BN Crew 3 with units 806/676/6812 passed through Kent, WA southbound.

On 3-21-78 I took a rear end roster of the 806 in Seattle which shows some rear end details.

I took one last photo of the 806 on 4-14-79 at Interbay, WA.

The 806 lasted until 12/81 (probably a good part of that time was in storage) when it was retired and sold for scrap.
