BN 5714

BN 5714 was built by GE as Great Northern U33C 2544 in April of 1969. GN had a total of fifteen U33C's purchased in two groups numbered 2530-2544 so the 2544 was the last of the series. All the U33C's were delivered in GN's Big Sky Blue paint and assigned to Havre, MT.

After the March 1970 BN merger the GN 2544 was renumbered to BN 5714 and all of the ex-GN U33C's were assigned to the ex-NP at Livingston, MT.

I purchased a slide of the BN 5714 on eBay still in Big Sky Blue taken on 7-5-72. No location or photographer. name was listed on the slide.

The BN Roster, renumbering and repainting site states the 5714 was repainted BN green 1-17-73 at Havre, MT

I photographed the 5714 at Interbay, WA on 7-23-79. Note the bell mounted facing forward below the brake wheel. All of GN's second order of U33C's had the bell mounted here.

Not long after the BN 5714 went into storage before being officially retired in July of 1984. After being built just 15 years prior the 5714 was sold for scrap.
