BN 5712

BN 5712 was built by GE as Great Northern U33C 2542 in April of 1969. The 2542 was a part of GN's second and final order of U33C's delivered just about a year before the BN merger. All GN's U33C's were delivered in Big Sky Blue paint and assigned to Havre, MT. Kevin Piper provided a photo of the GN 2542 from his collection for this update. This photo was taken in Denver, CO on 4-26-70.

After the March 1970 BN merger the GN U33C's were renumbered BN 5700-5714 with the 2542 renumbered to BN 5712. It along with the other fourteen ex-GN U33C's were assigned to the ex-NP Livingston, MT facility for maintenance.

The 5712 was at Auburn, WA on the ex-NP 3-1-81 where I got a rear end roster shot of the big U33C between runs over Stampede Pass.

The next time I saw the 5712 was at Pasco, WA in storage along with other U33C's. This photo was taken 9-4-82.

Officially retired in August of 1984 the 5712 was sold for scrap after 15 years of service (though some of that time spent in storage)
