BN 5706

BN U33C 5706 was built by GE in June of 1968 as the Great Northern 2536 and delivered in Big Sky Blue paint. It was from the first order of GN U33C's numbered 2530-2538 and all were assigned to Lines West - Montana Division for maintenance.

After the 1970 BN merger the GN 2536 was renumbered BN 5706 and reassigned to the ex-NP facility at Livingston, MT.

My first photo of the 5706 was taken with an instamatic camera on 6-17-74 at the ex-GN Interbay facility in North Seattle. You can see a patch of big sky blue under the cab.

The 5706 was out of service and stored in my only other photo of the GE U33C at Pasco, WA 9-4-82 along with a large number of other U33C's. Note it still has "Livingston" stenciled on the side sill.

The 5706 was officially retired in September of 1983, returned to the lessor, and then scrapped.
