BN 5451

BN 5451 was one of five GE U28B's built in October of 1966 for the Burlington Route numbered 106-110, the 5451 being built as the CB&Q 107. rrpicturearchives has a good photo of the Q 107:

After the BN merger the CB&Q 107 was renumbered to BN 5451 and assigned to Lincoln, NE for maintenance. I have a slide of the BN 5451 I purchased on eBay showing the U28B at Lincoln, NE on 10-9-70 still in CB&Q Chinese Red.

rrpicturearchives also had a good shot of the BN 5451 from 1979 in Cascade green:

While on a 1982 vacation I stopped at Lincoln, NE and found quite a few locomotives in storage. Many were old GE's and among them was the BN 5451. The 5451 was retired in 1986 and sold to Transkentucky Corporation the following year becoming the TTI 256. It worked out of Paris, KY many years in silver and blue paint and was finally stored and in sad shape as seen in this photo at Paris, KY in 2007:

There is no further information on the U28B but chances are it has been scrapped.
