BN 5641
BN U25C 5641 was GE built as CB&Q 561 in October 1965. It was the last of twelve U25C's CB&Q purchased numbered 550-561 and assigned to Lincoln, NE. Kevin Piper has a photo in his collection of the CB&Q 561 wearing Chinese Red at Lincoln, NE taken in May 1966.
After the March 1970 BN merger the CB&Q 561 was renumbered BN 5641.and remained assigned to Lincoln right into 1972 when the 12 ex-CB&Q U25C's were reassigned to the former NP Mississippi St shops in the Twin Cities Region by 1973.
I photographed the 5641 much later on 10-3-79 at Seattle's Interbay facility.
It is interesting to note the U25C still had it nose mounted lights intact at that time. Many of the ex-CB&Q U-boats had had their nose lights removed by then.
BN retired the 5641 in August of 1980 and it was sold for scrap.
