BN 5640

BN U25C 5640 was by GE as CB&Q 560 in October 1965. It was the next to last of twelve U25C's CB&Q purchased numbered 550-561 and assigned to Lincoln, NE.

After the March 1970 BN merger the Q 560 was renumbered BN 5640 My roster notes say I first saw the BN 5640 on 9-18-79. On that day I went up to Stevens Pass and photographed train #130 at Gold Bar, WA with 5659/5640/C&S 924/5675 (U28C/U25C/SD40-2/U28C) The train was stopped and I never roster shot the 5640, probably because it was facing rear end first. Sure do wish that I had taken a slide of it now.

I do have an eBay slide I purchased showing the 5640 at Laurel, MT 8-22-76.

The 5640 was retired in August of 1980 and sold for scrap.
