BN 2527

BN GP35 2527 was built during December by EMD as CB&Q 981. A good photo of the 981 can be found here on rrpicturearchives taken in 1965.

After the 1970 BN merger the CB&Q 981 was renumbered to BN 2527. Ten former GN/CB&Q GP35's 2520-2529 were assigned to Superior, WI for a number of years after the BN merger and worked ore trains. At some point these ten moved to Lincoln, NE and were assigned there for awhile before joining the other GP35's working in the Northwest.

I first saw the 2527 on 10-2-77 in the engine facility at Interbay. I photographed the 2527 twice on 5-30-78 photographing both sides of the GP35 at different times of the day.

This was the only time I photographed the 2527 as I never had another chance to get a photo of it in the following years. BN retired the 2527 in March of 1987 and unlike many of the other former BN GP35's it was not included in the GP39 rebuild program but was sold for scrap after that time.
