BN 310
BN SW1500 310 was built by EMD in January 1973 as first unit of a 15 unit order numbered 310-324 (following the 10 GN Built SW1500's).
After delivery the 310 was assigned to Kansas City. By 1992 it was assigned to the Northtown, MN area. rrpicturearchives has a few photos of the 310 at St Paul in 1992 including this one.
After the BNSF merger the BN 310 was renumbered to BNSF 3456 and continued to work in Minnesota and eastern North Dakota. In July 2003 I made a trip through Dilworth, MN towards Fargo, ND and photographed the 3456 at Dilworth on the ex-NP Note that it is set up for remote control operation.
By April 2011 the 3456 was noted out of service and in a Galesburg, IL deadline. It appears that BNSF has retired and sold the 3456 as it was last seen at Lordstown, OH in July 2011 and possibly owned by LTEX. No further information on the SW1500 is available.
