BN 378

BN 378 was part of an order of EMD SW1000's numbered 375-394 built in 1972. The ex-NP Auburn, WA facility got SW1000's 378-379 and 382-384 assigned for maintenance soon after delivery.

I photographed the 378 at Auburn on 5-20-78.

In the early 1980's after Stampede Pass was mothballed and the Auburn facility shut down the 378 was reassigned to Interbay north of Seattle. I saw the 378 at Balmer South (south end of Interbay) and photographed it there on 8-21-83.

Fast forward to 1996 and the BNSF merger. The BN 378 was renumbered to BNSF 3603 in 1998. This photo from rrpicturearchives shows the BNSF 3603 at Vancouver, WA in 1998

That was the last bit of info that I could find, A 2016 BNSF Annual show no mention of a 3603 which means it is no longer on the BNSF roster but I have no info on when that happened.
