BN 9700

BN 9700 was part of a 141 unit order of SD70MAC's numbered 9572 to 9712 that were built by EMD in 1995 primarily for coal service. The 9700 was built by EMD in December of 1995. There are quite a few photos of the BN 9700 on the internet and rrpicturearchives has some good ones including this one in Colorado from 2003, well after the BNSF merger:

By 2008 the BN 9700 had been relettered to BNSF 9700 but has kept the Grinstein Green BN colors. On 12-23-13 I roster shot the BNSF 9700 at South Seattle, WA.

It appears that the 9700 along with many other BNSF SD70MAC's have been placed in storage at Gillette, WY since at least 2019. Unknown if it will ever return to service.
