BN 9553

BN 9533 was built in February of 1995 as part of BN's second order of EMD SD70MAC's numbered 9475-9541 for coal train service. While I did not photograph the BN 9533 I see that not many others did either. One elusive SD70MAC apparently.

After the 1996 BNSF merger the 9533 was relettered BNSF in August 2001 but kept the BN number and Executive (Grinstein) paint scheme. I photographed the BNSF 9533 at Skykomish, WA 10-26-14, still in Grinstein green and with a BNSF emblem across the front.

By August 2019 the 9533 was in storage at Alliance, NE and in July 2021 officially retired off BNSF books. The report I read said that it and 24 other SD70MAC's were being sent to Birmingham, AL to be scrapped.
