BN 9408
BN started to take deliveries of their new EMD SD70MAC's in December 1993 and January 1994. They were delivered in the new Grinstein green and cream paint scheme. BN 9408 was built in January 1994. The SD70MAC's ordered primarily for use on coal trains.
On a trip to Wyoming in September 1994 I saw a few solid sets of three SD70MAC's and photographed one of these trains led by the 9408. These southbound coal loads are led by SD70MAC's 9408/9464/9424 at East Reno, WY on 9-8-94
And a roster shot as the train slowly passes by.
A few years later came BNSF merger on 12-31-96 and the BN 9408 became the BNSF 9408 on 1-21-02, renumbered but not repainted.
On a day trip to the ex-NP Providence Hill in Eastern Washington June 18, 2011 BNSF 9408 was on a westbound Z-CHCPTL. Just a BNSF swoosh showing on the cab sides.
The last photos that I could find of the BNSF 9408 were taken in 2014 and it was still green and cream at that time. Odds are the SD70MAC is in storage somewhere but there are no reports of it being retired. If there is an updated disposition it will be noted here.
