BN 6327

BN SD40-2 6327 was built by EMD in February of 1972. The 6327 was the third unit of BN's first order of new SD40-2's numbered 6325-6339. (6335-6339 would be renumbered 6912-6916) These new SD40-2's were all assigned to Livingston, MT.

I first photographed the BN 6327 at Interbay, WA 12-27-77.

Less than a year later I caught the 6327 West on Stevens Pass 10-14-78, Train is #83 at Berne, WA with 6327/827/6907 (SD40-2/F9B/SD40-2) up front. Besides these three units there is also a three unit manned helper mid-train.

On 3-18-81 BN 6327 led train #137 southbound out of Seattle with WP GP40's 3510 and 3530 trailing it.

Four years later on 6-22-85 westbound train #21 with units 6327/4029/6325/6380 passed through Seattle headed for South Seattle. Note there were two SD40-2's from that first order on this train.

After the BNSF merger the BN 6327 was renumbered to BNSF 6399 in July of 1998. I have just one photo of the 6399 taken 9-21-99 in Seattle.

The 6399 was later repainted in BNSF's H1 colors as seen in this 2008 image at Minneapolis, MN from rrpicturearchives:

Then in September 2009 the 6399 was rebuilt and reclassed as BNSF SD40-2R 1918 but kept the H1 paint. Every photo of the 1918 since 2009 has been in Minnesota so it must not stray too far away from Northtown Yard.
