BN 3134

BN GP50 3134 was built by EMD in August of 1985 as part of an order numbered 3110-3162 and were delivered in a higher visibility "Tiger Stripe" paint scheme with a large "BN" on the side.. A number of BN's GP50's including the 3134 were assigned to Minneapolis, MN for maintenance and saw service between Minneapolis and Seattle/Portland.

I photographed the 3134 leading BN train 22 at Leavenworth, WA on the ex-GN on 2-8-86.

BN 3134/3158/7044/8110 (GP50/GP50/SD40-2/SD40-2) were up front. On 9-7-89 I roster shot the 3134 in Seattle still sporting Tiger Stripes.

By this time BN had already started repainting the orange and black front ends of the GP50's into what was called the "white faced" scheme which was then BN's current paint scheme. I photographed the 3134 at Interbay, WA looking a little well worn in the white faced scheme 5-31-96.

After the December 1996 BNSF merger the 3134 was renumbered BNSF 3134 on 7-4-01 keeping the BN green paint until sometime between 2018 and early 2021 when the 3134 was repainted into BNSF's H3 orange and black colors. A good photo of the BNSF 3134 was found on rrpicturearchives in Minnesota:

Built in 1985 wearing orange and black interesting to know the 3134 is again wearing an orange and black paint scheme.
