BN 3124
BN GP50 3124 was part of an order of 3500 HP GP50's built in May 1985. These BN GP50's numbered 3110-3162 were all delivered with orange and black tiger stripes on the front end for added visibility. They were often seen in sets of three of four with a fuel tender in between or with BN's GE B30-7A B-units on priority freight.
My first photo of the BN 3124 was taken 11-23-85 leading westbound train #15 into Seattle with the BN 3124/3151/FT27/3101 (GP50/GP50/Fuel Tender/GP50).
A short while later #15 was at Argo, just south of Seattle to make a set out. This photo is from the Lucile St overpass.
In 1989 BN made a change to the paint scheme dropping the orange and black and going for a large BN on the front of the nose and more white. Eventually all the GP50's got this variant on the front including the 3124. The carbody of most GP50's retained the large BN on the side.
Here is the 3124 leading southbound train 2/696 with 3124/4053/2824/3156 out of Seattle, WA on 5-2-91 and the 3124 sporting the new look.
Next came the BNSF merger and the 3124 was relettered BNSF but kept the number and BN paint. In 2006 the 3124 was repainted orange and black as this photo from rrpicturearchoves shows:
The last photo shown of the 3124 on rrpicturearchives was from 2017 so that makes me think that the GP50 may not be in service at this time.
