BN 5586

BN C30-7 5586 was built new by GE for the BN in June of 1979 and was one of a group numbered 5567-5599 all delivered in 1979 for coal train service.

I first saw the 5586 on 2-26-81 at Auburn WA in a consist of 5826/7037/5586/6816 (U30C/SD40-2/C30-7/SD40-2). This had been a set of power from a westbound off Stampede Pass earlier that morning.

My first photo of the 5586 was not even on the BN but on the KCS at Cleveland, MO on 6-11-99.

That and it was BNSF owned at that time but still wore BN lettering. The C30-7 was assigned to be BNSF 5586 but was retired in January 2002 with out being relettered.

It and many other BN C30-7's were sold, rebuilt and shipped south to ALL (America Latina Locomotives) in Brazil. They were also retrucked to run on narrow gauge trackage. The BN 5586 became ALL 7617. Photos of it can be found here on RR Picture Archives.net:

The last photo of it was taken in 2010 so it is not known if the ex-BN 5586 is still operating in Brazil.
