BN 5005

BN C30-7 5005 was built by GE in June of 1979 and primarily used in coal service out of Alliance, NE. Here is a photo from rrpicturearchives showing the 5005 in June of 1980, note the unusual font on the number boards.

I photographed the 5005 at Interbay, WA on 10-16-80. This roster does not show the front but is more of a side profile.

In May of 1983 the 5005 was heavily damaged in a collision at Palmer Lake, CO but it was rebuilt and continued in service. As can seen by the 1986 photo from Burlington Northern Photo Archives when it was rebuilt the plate over the top of the nose was omitted making it look more like a U30C from the front.

The 5005 lasted until September of 1994 when it was wrecked again, this time at Gillette, WY. The locomotive was retired and scrapped.
